To facilitate domestic defence production easily accessible state-of-the-art defence testing facilities are required. Defence testing infrastructure is capital intensive requiring continuous upgradation and it is not economically viable for individual defence industrial units to set up in-house testing facilities.
The Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS) proposes setting up 06 to 08 Greenfield Testing Facilities in partnership with private sector with a total Grant-in-Aid of Rs 400 Cr. The DTIs will facilitate indigenous defence production, consequently reduce imports of military equipment and help make the country self-reliant.
